External HD not recognised on F7

I am using F7.

I have just bought a Western Digital SATA 1 TB Hard drive.

I have placed it in an enclosure connected via USB and nothing!

Is it possible for my system to recognise the device?

I have solved this problem by connecting the external HD to a mac and formatting it to FAT. Now I can plug it in and use it.

you do realize that with a fat32 file system there are no user/file permissions ( 777,755,...) and you will never be able to store a video over 4 gig's in size

Hook it up to a Windows box and format it using NTFS.
Use the NTFS-3G driver for support. Then you should be good to go.
