terminal command problem "chkconfig: command not found"

Hi Guys.

I have used Ubuntu for about 4 years and migrated to Fedora -64 with my new Dell XPS-1530 laptop and am impressed so far as things seem to work unlike posts on other distro forums stating 64-bit is not ready yet. Any ways.

I am having a big problem with terminal commands. I remember I tried doing a link trick from one of the fedora install how to pages and keep getting errors when trying to run commands in terminal such as sensors-detect

Right now trying to run this command:

# chkconfig --level 345 preload on
bash: chkconfig: command not found

K so far ran commands and get command not found. Tried cd -ing to the dir and running command and get the same.

Running the command as su with the full path and run command seems to work.

I need to get this fixed.

Thanks for the help.

Really impressed with Fedora -9 -64 so far.

Hello Omni-Tom

Using 'su' is part way to the answer, but that only gives you root control within your own environment.

Try using:

Code:
su -
The space and the minus sign are what gives you full root control over your machine.

EDIT: Someone else beat me to it while I was researching. Oh well.

su -

Then enter your password.

Now just entering something like "chkconfig" will work fine.
