OpenSSH / SunSSH compatability issue

In my network, I have a central Solaris server with a handful of linux machines accessing the server and each other.

After upgrading three of these machines to Fedora 9, I have not been able to ssh into these three machines with the central server; however, I have been able to ssh into the Fedora 9 machines with older versions of Fedora and OpenSSH.

Interestingly enough, I have been able to ssh from these machines into the central Solaris server with no problem, just not the other way around.

I think the problem occurs when SunSSH (version 1.0.1) tries to ssh into the Fedora 9 machines running OpenSSH 5.0. Anybody else having a similar problem? Thanks in advance.

Perhaps a known_host's issue?

Run ssh in verbose mode to see what's wrong. In OpenSSH, that means
Code:
ssh -v IP
Find out how it's done in Solaris by checking it's man page. As EnglandA implied, it might be a known_hosts issue - that would mean existing ssh keys known in Solaris to be different/changed due to those upgrades. If that's the case, simply delete those keys for the respective IP's

I'll look into those ssh keys later today when I get the chance.

In the meantime, this is what I was getting when running ssh in verbose mode.

And don't worry, I'm using a more creative naming scheme, I just changed the names to keep it simple to trace =)

Code:
wiffporkins_on_SolarisServer:/home/wiffporkins% ssh -v root@Fedora9Box
SSH Version Sun_SSH_1.0.1, protocol versions 1.5/2.0.
debug1: Reading configuration data /etc/ssh/ssh_config
debug1: Rhosts Authentication disabled, originating port will not be trusted.
debug1: ssh_connect: getuid 501 geteuid 501 anon 1
debug1: Connecting to Fedora9Box [ip.address] port 22.
debug1: Connection established.
debug1: identity file /home/wiffporkins/.ssh/identity type 3
debug1: identity file /home/wiffporkins/.ssh/id_rsa type 3
debug1: identity file /home/wiffporkins/.ssh/id_dsa type 3
At this point, ssh hangs and the connection is never completed.

If just hangs after this, I'd suggest checking the firewall in F9. I don't know if it's the same as in F8, but you can try
Code:
su -
system-config-firewall-tui
See if ssh is allowed (TCP 22)

Firewall is disabled and Port 22 is open, but still no dice.

I'm gonna sniff around with Wire Shark today and see if that doesn't tell me anything.
