Re: Now Playing
I remember a friend who had bought a new car--a Torino, I think, I just remember it was green with a black roof. He would get annoyed because whenever that song came on--and it came on a LOT--I would start doing the beat to the chorus on the roof.
I remember reading somewhere, (probably in the 90's), after music videos became more popular than they were during my teens and early twenties. It mentioned how so many folks who would hear a song after the advent of the video would be as likely to think of the video as anything else, whereas those of us who grew up earlier, the songs would have memories. Almost all of the songs that various people list here, that were released before the mid-eighties, will have some kind of memory for me.
Which somehow led me to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqFUmo8VVg0
Jackson Browne, Doctor My Eyes, the only good song on the radio one summer. And on the strength of that one song, I told someone to get his album for her sister, saying if her sister didn't like it, I'd reimburse her the cost of the album. (Probably $4-5 USD back then.)

Re: Now Playing
This song brings back lots of memories for me:
Linda Ronstadt - Blue Bayou
I like the original version by Roy Orbison, but I prefer Ronstadt's cover.

Live version (from 1976) of Willing--on the radio they'd always play the studio version of this after her version of When Will I be Loved as that one faded right into the guitar intro.....

That one is still a favorite for open mic night at my local watering hole.

Cream Cat's Squirrel--first song, side two of the album. I think I might still have the vinyl somewhere.

Ren Harvieu - Open up your Arms
This young lady from Salford is well worth a listen, if you haven't heard her before you really are missing out.
