installing netbeans

Netbeans UI is not loading the UI when trying to install it from the command line

OS: RH Fedora 9

have you tried it with
su -
instead of just
su

su - loads root's path.

i don't suppose you ran may or may not help
chmod +x *linux-ml.sh
you might also need to remove the fedora java and replace it with the sun java

The Netbeans installer and Netbeans itself works fine for me on Fedora 9, using the standard Fedora OpenJDK. An update to OpenJDK was issued recently, maybe this fixes the problem. I installed as a user in the user's home directory, not as root.

installing netbeans with openjdk

Netbeans 6.1 has installed for me too using the openjdk with Fedora 9

you need
java-1.6.0-openjdk-devel

And then when running the Netbeans installer point it to:
/usr/lib/jvm/java-openjdk
