Partitioning step fails?

I have a 70 gig hd on my laptop with windows on it. I went to the install with the whole disc as ntfs, planning on resizing it at the install. But, when I chose resize and install, I got an ntfs resize error. So, I said no problem and resized it myself with some partition program leaving about 25 gig unpartitioned and free. I went back to the install and tried the "install on free space" option, then I get the following error: "Could not allocate requested partitions: Partition failed: Couldnt allocate paritions as primary partition. Not enough space for /boot". Whats going on here??

Hello:
Are you sure that the "free space" is actually un-partitioned and not just empty ?
Do you get the same error if you select
Create custom layout

The free space is unpartitioned, my windows partition acknowledges that. I have not tried custom layout, Im not sure how to do that... but why would format on empty space not work?

Hello:
I have no idea why it is failing in your situation that is why I asked the questions I did ?
The options available to you are as displayed in the attached image.
Also, see the Section on Chapter 12. Disk Partitioning from the Installation Guide.
