installing asterisk on fedora 9

i am installing asterisk on fedora 9 . however, libcrypto.so.6 is needed (as a dependency) although i have a newer version (libcrypto.so.7) installed. also when i come to remove openssl (the package holding libcrypto), its saying that the package is not installed and when we r trying to install openssl we r getting that it is already installed with newer version ....

plzzzzzz help and 10x in advance

for 64 bit

Code:
su
ln -s /lib64/libcrypto.so.7 /lib64/libcrypto.so.6

I setup a test server with Asterisk 1.6 beta9 on fedora 9.

I will be testing and evaluating to see how stable it is.

Why don't you just install it from the fedora repo?
Code:
yum list asteris*

I'm using fedora9.x86_64, but they should be available for 32bit also. To install just asterisk
Code:
su
yum install asterisk
To install everything asterisk.
Code:
su
yum install asteris*
This is asterisk 1.6beta8

EDIT: To install 1.6beta9.
Code:
su
yum --enablerepo=updates-testing install asterisk
Though generally packages are in a testing repo for a good reason. IE: They may not really be stable and/or have serious bugs.

No Problem.

1) I insalled on a clean box using the FC9 iso I chose custom and selected the required packages, mostly dev and server packages I didn't want to miss anything.

2) I downloaded and used the most current build of the beta Asterisk 1.6

3) I also used the make samples so that the conf files are all setup with the sample pbx.

Simple as 123 =)

Hope this helps.

I've used asterisk before but only on a trixbox where most everyone is configured after the OS is installed. Could you point me in a direction for any reasonable tutorials for a laptop? I'd like to just set up with a SIP and a few extras like conferencing and voicemail. I still have a trixbox running as a backup but I'd like to go through some of this procedure for the sake of learning.

I saw in the repositories that it is possible to use bluetooth to connect a cellphone or headset as a FXO or FSO device...this got my attention!
