Dolphin/Etc.

OK, I have fedora 9 installed, it was the 64 bit KDE media, but I have switched to Gnome due to the poor support for KDE for this distro. A few things I want to do, but I'm unsure how. First, want Dolphin as the default file manager, how would I go about this? Nothing in the default applications area or anything. Next, how do I get Dolphin to show preview images for movies (mpg, avi, wmv, etc.), I was running Sabayon before, and Dolphin would do this in it, and before you ask, it is already set to do so in the preferences, pictures do it, but not movies.

Lastly, this is annoying as hell. When I boot, the numlock key is on, but the number pad doesn't work till I hit the numlock 3 times, the first time does nothing, the 2nd turns it off, the 3rd turns it on. Anything anyone has run into?

Hello:

Don't know about the rest, because my LiveCD install of KDE lost it's "KDE" part shortly after install, and it's now an E17 Enlightenment DE install.

But as far as num[b]lock: yes, I see this sometimes too. I assume that you have package 'numlockx' installed. Sometimes (rarely though) it does lose the indicator light, but numlock is still on, in which case yes: I have to press it *two* times to get it back (first turns it off, second on again with light).

Maybe not quite the same issue?

I stay in F8 because KDE4 is not ready for me. Maybe in a terminal you can type:

dolphin

and app appear. If so, maybe you can make an icon to run dolphin from your desktop. I will wait for KDE 4.1 if ready before change my F8.

Well, It was the KDE install media, but I switched to Gnome shortly after, the support was pretty poor, and too glitchy. As far as the numlock, it will boot with it on, but it will just not function until I do the three button push, always happens. I have it set to boot with numlock on. The dolphin thing, I have a shortcut set, but I would like if it defaulted for everything to dolphin.
