Arrow General queries..

hi,

just a few general queries..::

1. how do you REMOVE an alias??? I made an alias for a directory path but now want to remove it... how do I do this??

2. Some laptops (eg HP 6515b)do not start with graphical X server on installing fedora ( 8 atleast .. havent checked 9) because the ATI driver has to be installed in them.. Now when in command mode.. How do you access a password protected wifi network (we have been given username and passwords from the admin..) in order to use yum to install the driver?? Which implies how do you activate network manager , connect to the wifi network and then enter your username and password (if possible) to login to the wifi without graphical webbrowsers?? Because i havent been able to do this.. Ive had to download ATI drivers manually from the site on a different computer, put in in a flash disk and then install it to make the graphical interface work.. tedious.. yum is more convenient but requires the internet..

Regards,

Ankur

unalias will do it:
Code:
unalias [-a] [name ...]
       Remove each name from the list of defined aliases. If -a is
       supplied, all alias definitions are removed. The return value
       is true unless a supplied name is not a defined alias.

As for number two, I've not done it, but I've heard of folks getting connected to encrypted wireless networks by changing the text config file for wpa_supplicant.

If it's a laptop, though, I've found it's easy enough to move over to the next room and wire for a jiffy.
