Booting FC2 from a floppy?

I just got my new computer in a week ago, and I have had no expierience with Linux for about a year or so, so I wanted to see what was out there. I saw FC2, and wanted to try it out. My new computer is a Compaq, and I didn't get an XP install disc, it just came with everything on already, and I also have a Recovery Partition (Drive D and a Recovery disc. I got partition magic, and re partitioned my hdd for FC2, and installed it. Everything worked great, I was up and running again, just playing around and looking at some new stuff, when I wanted to play a game of Counter-Strike on XP. So, I rebooted, and selected "Windows XP" to start up, and the "Compaq Recovery Process" started. I was wondering why it happened, so I restarted and tried again, I got the same problem. I called up Compaq, and told them my problem and they said, "Since dual booting your system is unsafe, that it was prevented on my computer", I got pretty pissed, so I thought about how windows would know I have another OS on there, and I realized it was Grub. Is there a way I can boot from a floppy with FC2? If so, can you tell me how? Or direct me to a place where I can learn to do so?

Thank you very much

-Matt

are you able to get into xp?

and i believe compaq now writes in the mbr just in case you need to resintall you OS (windoz BS) and all you got to do is press a combination of keys and it takes you to a reinstallation process, unfortunally the only way to overide that is to erase your hard drive complete and that includes your recovery section on the hard drive....but if i not mistaken you can also burn those recovery files into a set of 4-6 discs and complete erase your hd....if you want to and than reinstall xp from the set of discs and than fc2....

you have a manual or guide that tells you how to burn those discs....about a year ago i fixed a pc that had same type of set up....

Well, I already burned a recovery DVD instead of the set of discs, it came with a program to do so. But I asked around to see what would happen if I deleted my D: drive, and people said that the DVD used files from the drive, I don't know if that's true or not, but I guess I can call up Compaq again today.

You can make a boot loader diskette from smoothwall v2, use it to boot your Fedora2 cd1

Have fun
