Artsd and Esd started when logging in

Hello all,

I just noticed that whenever I log into gnome, both esd and artsd are started automatically. I use ps -ef to verify that. Is there any way to stop both from starting up?

Artsd and esd are not services listed in chkconfig. So I can't stop these services from respawning itself. Any other idea?

Isn't artsd the sound system in KDE? I think you can turn it off in the KDE control centre - but you'll have to log into KDE first

I might just do that, but why should artsd start when I logged on to Gnome desktop? Esd gets started too during login, after I have disabled sound server in Gnome Control Center. Hmm..
