FC1 are eating up my HD...

I have Fedora Core 1 on an old laptop. When I installed it around christmas, the installation took about 2G. Later I've added some software, wallpapers and themes, lets say 200Meg, not more.

I don't have any music or videos on this one, no documents, use it mainly for surfing and chatting.

I've been using YUM often to update.

Now, 4,6GB of my 6GB disk is used... what is eating my disk, and how can I "clean up" ?

While your at it check the /var/cache/yum directory and remove the old headers and packages.

you can also use yum to clean itself
Code:
yum clean oldheaders
or
Code:
yum clean all

Can I just delete the logs in /var/log/ ?

I have another question... FC1 is getting old now, but this is a very lowspec laptop:

266Mhz
128RAM
6GB HD

I'm using Fluxbox to get decent responsetimes.

Would you recommend making a minimal install of FC2 and Fluxbox on this machine, or should I stick with FC1 ?

Typically you can delete logs, especially those with numbers at the end that have been rotated. Consider compressing your logs by uncommenting the compress option in the /etc/logrotate.conf file.

However, I think your space issue may be more than log and temp files. I also recommend running
Code:
yum clean all
All the updated rpm packages you downloaded probably are still there.
