F9 with KDE4, high cpu in plasma/Xorg on panel popup
Is anyone else seeing this in F9 with KDE4?:
Load something so that the panel has an entry (konsole, firefox,..etc it
doesn't matter )
float the mouse over the Panel's process entry so the plasma pop up shows
now in a separate terminal run top and see that Xorg and plasma
are now using all the cpu time:

This continues until the mouse is moved so that the popup goes
away. I tried to report this during the beta but it wasn't accepted.

I am seeing the same thing, VERY high load averages with nothing but firefox and a terminal open. It doesn't seem to be to easy to find any answers to this one. If anyone can spread some light it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all,
Yes I experience the same problems. First of all I had some troubles finding out how to get FC9 use KDE4.
I looks very very nice.
However it is sometimes so slow... (almost like, sorry to say it, working with windows....)
When looking at top, I see plasma consuming sometimes upto 90% of CPU.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Or is there maybe a fix in the pipeline?
Thanks a lot.
John

I don't see high cpu for plasma in general but only when it's spinning on that taskbar panel
popup when the mouse is over a process entry. Move the mouse off
and it immediately goes down. Actually many reviewers are considering
kde4 as faster than kde3, but to be fair to kde3, kde3 is probably doing
a lot more work (kde4 has less features ported over, less apps and so on)

I found that MOST of my problem was caused by the firefox 3 beta. I removed it and added firefox 2 and my load average is WAY down.

I am seeing the exact same problem. Move the mouse pointer over a Panel icon so I get the pop up, between X and Plasma one of my processor is at 100%. Once I move the mouse pointer off of the icon everything is back to normal.

I just installed 4.1 and the problem is fixed. They even fixed the problem of cut and paste not working in Konqueror :-)
