how to roll back to earlier version of an app

Hi

in F9, the new version of gdm is under development and seems to be incapable of listening for xdmcp broadcasts from other machines.
in other words I can't use xdmcp to connect from another machine, gdm is only listening on a local socket, not TCP
I thought I'd try rolling back to the version of gdm that was in F8 but have no idea how to go about it
is this possible?
any pointers on how to do it?

that is exactly what I asked for (rolling back gdm) but it doesn't work
just for more info, what I'm trying to do is redirect the display of the entire desktop back to an XP box using xming as an x-server
I can redirect individual apps just fine
I used the custom.conf from an F8 box where things work fine
any other ideas ?

ok, that was a pain in the butt
I did what was suggested to roll gdm back to the version from F8
then I disabled selinux
still didn't work
then I turned off iptables and ip6tables, didn't want ip6 anyway
that got things working
I figured this out by noticing I couldn't even hit apache on this machine
it seems the default setting for iptables or some firewall stuff or something is very restrictive
I don't want all this stuff turned off, I'll now have to go figure out how to modify these security gadgets so I can do what I want to do without completely disabling them
curious, I could ssh into the machine before I did all this
