Post Release Software Updates

Hello,

I have a quick question regarding Fedora post-release software updates. I know Fedora has a 6 month release cycle, which means you get bleeding edge software every 6 months upon release. After release, I know you at least get bug fixes/security updates for something like 12 months. However, I haven't seen the "type" of updates clearly defined anywhere. Are these just security fixes, or are you getting in "new" software like you would with a "rolling" distro like Debian Testing?

I'm just curious if the updates follow more of an Ubuntu model (6 month release with only security updates between releases), a Debian Testing model (constant trickle of new software), or perhaps a mixture of both...

Thanks!

Swill

fedora does not limit updates to security/bug fix patches only. During it's lifetime you will get new versions of installed packages as well, like a new kernel version.

It is not a rolling release system though. In the end you will have to upgrade(?)/reinstall(!) to get to the new release opposed to a "true" rolling release system (like Arch) where you always have the current version of the distro.

Cool, that's kind of what I thought it was. Pretty much a mix between a 6 month point release and a rolling release.

Thanks for the info!
