System Update Error Post Fedora 9 Upgrade

I just upgraded from F7 to F9. In Gnome & KDE, when updating the system I am receiving the following msg:

Error with rpm_check_debug vs depsolve: faad2 conflicts with vlc-08.6f-2.lvn7.i386 faad2 is needed by (installed) ffmpeg-libs-04.9-0.37.20070503.lvn7.i386

This error is preventing a complete system update. Is there a newer package of some sort I need? Won't the updater check dependencies and retrieve them?

Thanks in advance.

When this happens to me, I usually just remove the conflicting package.
yum remove vlc-08.6f-2.lvn7.i386
