No Internet on Evo N180

Just installed Fedora7 (came with Linux for Dummies) on an Evo N180 laptop. Install went well. Unable to connect to internet though. When I try to 'activate' ethernet, no connection is found. Ping also doesn't work. Set up with Cox Cable broadband using dhcp. No problems connecting to windows from my windows computer. Any ideas for a newbie?
