aMSN for FC8 x86_64 issues

I've installed aMSN successfully from aMSN site but when I try running it. I get:

"Loading TkCximage failted. This module is needed to run aMSN. Please complie aMSN first,
instructions on how to complie are located on the file INSTALL"

Since I ran the installation thru a gui based method, I have no idea where the files are kept. After searching thru the forums/internet, I then tried the following:

1) yum install amsn amsn-plugins

2) yum install tcl tcl-devel

tcl/tk are updated to ver 8.4 bit I still get the same error. Anyone knows how to resolve this?
I'm using Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.24.5-85.fc8 kernel

tcltls
tclsoap
tcllib
bwidget
tkdnd
xdg-utils
alsa-utils
tk-devel

hi Seve, yes, all those were installed. I installed those following some guides in the threads.

anyway, I finally got it to work.. I think the ver of aMSN required tcl8.5 to work. Uninstalling the package I downloaded and yum remove amsn. reinstalling via yum and I do not have the error anymore.

Hi Ashleyy,
I have the exact problem and have been searching on the net to know how to install the tcl8.5 package., but it gives me an error every time I compile it. Could you tell me what you did to get the tcl8.5 installation sorted? Every time I do this it gives an error message

Cheers,

What exactly are you doing (the command), and what exactly is the error message?

Maybe it is a repository problem

Yeah I used this but it didn't work because the newest tcl version from Livna repository is Tcl8.4 which doesn't support all the files required by aMSN source. Every time I run yum to install Tcl it tells me that the current Tcl version is up to date with Tcl8.4.

Can you tell me which repository you used to download Tcl8.5?

Thanks,

No worries,

I think I found a much simpler way instead of messing around with many source files. I am simply downloading amsn0.97 through yum.

Unluckily, I can't report the result as it is still downloading and the connection is horribly slow.
I will come up with the results later on.

Thanks,
