Unmute sound Fedora9 Preview

I'm new to Fedora and just finding my way around. I just installed the KDE live 9 preview and had no sound. I unmuted the Kmix sound icon in the task manager (is that what it's called in the lower right of the desktop?) but still had no sound.

So I installed alsa-utils and alsamixergui to try those. The mixer showed volume level of 100% but still no sound. Then I searched the alsa files with the locate command and found alsaunmute. Ran that command and then I had sound.

Is there another way to get sound to work with the KDE live preview version?

Howdy,

I had a similar problem.

Fixed permanently by installing dedicated sound card instead of using the on-board audio.

HTH.
