Microphone not working @ Fedora 8 (screenshots and detailed information included)

Hi. I installed TeamSpeak2 and noticed that the mic doesn't work and any other sounds didn't work when TS was running. I solved the problem by changing dsp to dsp0. But mic still doesn't work. Tried with Audacity with no succes. Playing with Audacity's settings and kmix I managed to get sound recorded. But only when I yelled to the mic (the sound was faint, even when I yelled), and the left channel was louder than the right channel. The bars indicating output and input levels behaved strangely (like there's always some input and output and the bar indicating the left channels sound level was always indicating more sound coming from the left channel). I managed to broke my sounds, but disabling everything and restarting KDE brought sounds back again. Tried many setting combinations, but still no recorded sound. Here's some screenshots:

Kmix outputs tab:

Kmix inputs tab:

Kmix switches tab:

Audacity lets me select these for playback device:

...and these for recording device:

I appreciate any help :)

Oh, I forgot to mention that the mic is connected to the mobo (not the front panel).

In your second screenshot the controller of 'mic' and 'capture' are at the lowest value possible?! On my F8 box I have the option to enable a 'mic boost'. That option did a real good job for the microphone loudness.

I tried enabling the mic boost, but it didn't help. The sliders are at lowest value because I had to disable all to make sounds working again. If I enable them, it doesn't help.

You are not the only person who is problems getting their microphone to work. I tried every possibly combination but with pulseaudio enabled and it just would not work. I ended up removing pulseaudio and now it records properly. That new sound system feature is a never ending pain in the rear.
