[noob] 'make' command help

OK so I am following this tut so I can get my wifi drivers working:

http://madwifi.org/wiki/UserDocs/FirstTimeHowTo

and when I get to to here:

http://madwifi.org/wiki/UserDocs/Fir...uildingMadWifi

the make command does not work. it just says:

sudo: make: command not found

I am running Fedora 8 64bit. Any help or direction would be great! Thanks!

Hello:
Please read some more about the basics of using Fedora ---->The Unofficial Fedora FAQ

sudo, although available is not set up by default
See http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mj...a-f8.html#sudo to help you with that.

make and other development packages may or may not be isntalled , depending upon your installation ?

try

yum groupinstall "Development Tools" "Legacy Software Development"

using the exact syntax including the quotes

Seve

Well, if you want to compile, knock yourself out

If interested, you could try
Code:
su -l

rpm -Uvh http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-8.rpm

yum install kmod-madwifi

Well my main problem is I need a driver for fedora so I can connect tot he internet. So yum is a no go. Currently I am duo booting fed8 + xp pro. My tubes work fine on XP but fed doesnt display any wifi networks on fed and it is easy to assume I need to download the linux driver for my pci card to work in linux.

and about sudo...I can only login as root for now (I didnt type in a pass for my user account and but apparently it has default one I dont know about). When I type "make" without sudo it just says bash: make: command not found. I realize now that I need to install make.

I am still running into difficulties with the driver though. I got the file:
http://livna-dl.reloumirrors.net/fedora/8/x86_64/
madwifi-devel-0.9.4-1.lvn8.x86_64.rpm

But for some reason when I tried to run the rpm it wanted to connect to the internet. So I extracted to archive and put each contents in their respectable locations but still have a no go with getting the tubes on fed 8.

BTW does that look like the right driver file? I just now noticed there are like a bunch of madwifi drivers there...

Well you're far off track. Don't you have wired access at all ? Your quickest way out of this mess is to follow my previous instructions. Please post
Code:
uname -a
lspci -v

Sorry about that. I made the second because I though it would be more clear to what I was asking. I will continue there.

No problem. Just keep that in mind next time, on any given forum
