Unhappy fedora 9 and broadcom wireless

Please help this poor linux n00b.
I have installed on a md 64 fedora 9 live cd on box, it sees the card and recognizes it fine but will not connect. The card is one of those dreaded bcmxx.
I go through the setup manually menu, ssid (my network name), 128 hexabit (my password)
and the bottom green light just keeps flashing but just fails to connect. I was able to connect somehow in 7.04 ubuntu, so i know it is possible someone please point me in the right direction. there are so many post on this subject, but I don't know if version 9 takes care of all these things. Thank you in advance.
Somebody help

I'll preface this by asking - you are aware that Fedora 9 is still in beta? It is slated to be released May 1st, though I saw a more experienced member saying to expect a one or two week delay, not sure if that's reliable or not. It might be best to just wait the two weeks or so and keep using your working Ubuntu setup if you're interested in a stable working system and not testing purposes.

What happens if you do:
Code:
su -
iwlist scan
Is there scanning output? Also, post the output of
Code:
lspci | grep Network
Are you using the native b43 drivers or ndiswrapper?

Hello b0xx

I won't intrude much on this thread, but it might also be worth your while posting back the result of:

Code:
/sbin/lspci
where it refers to your wireless card. I've got the b43 driver working on both F8 and F9 but it can depend on exactly what broadcom card you have.

Incidentally, the b43 driver has become very good now for the cards it supports but you must use the right firmware with it.

Hello b0xx

Well. I have a 4318 myself that works very well with the b43 driver built into Fedora 8.

Have you downloaded and cut the firmware for the card? If so which firmware was it.

Can you run:

Code:
rpm -q b43-fwcutter
so we can gauge how up to date your system is.
