Remote Login

I'm trying to use Hummingbird Exceed to remotely log onto two Fedora Core 2 machines from a box running Windows XP. I'm fairly sure I've configured Exceed correctly, and I have rlogin turned on in the Linux boxes.
I can telnet and FTP from the windows box to the Fedoras, but Exceed doesn't even see the other two machines.. Any suggestions

update

Well, its been discovered that its not just with Exceed, trying to remote login using rlogin for Linux or rsh for XP doesn't work. I either get a Connection Refused message or Permission Denied. Are there services I have to have running for rlogin to work or configurations files I have to add my client's IP address to?

Do you have the ports open on the Fedora machines? There is a line for other ports to open with the Main Menu > System Settings > Security Level tool.

What are you trying to do? rsh, rlogin...why? I would expect that ssh or telnet would give you all that you would need from an admin perspective and you wouldn't need exceed...

If you have to have them, type in ntsysv and make sure that the services you are trying to access are turned on and installed...if they aren't listed, then you need to get the packages for them and install them...if they are listed, just check the boxes, hit ok and reboot.

If you are running a firewall, make sure that the ports are open etc...

I'm not sure how advanced you are, but generally I close down any and all services that I don't absolutely need...every service is an possible security hole.

let me know how it goes.

Port 22 (SSH) is typically open by default - using rlogin, rsh, and even telnet is not recommended at all. Exceed should work just fine with ssh.

(Aside: I interviewed with the company that made/makes Hummingbird a few years back. Very grueling interview - they had very high standards!)
