FC9 SCIM ANTHY Problems
Greetings:
I've used Anthy for my Japanese Character input; but I'm having problems activating it on FC9.
When I activate the IM, I'm just getting gibberish on both Firefox (Minefield - pls see Google text input) and in OO.Writer.
Attached are my screenshots....Appreciate the help in advance.

( Moved to Fedora Focus )
Hello:
Since this is regarding a Beta Release, have you searched through bugzilla or have you reported your issue?

Scim isn't finding the fonts.
Hold on, let me install it....
yum install scim-anthy. So far so good.
Because I have warning from your post, let me make sure I have fonts.
yum search fonts-ja
Ok, yum -y install fonts-japanese. (All these are bringing in various dependencies.
Ok, now I start X, booting into fluxbox.
XMODIFIERS='@im=SCIM' LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 firefox
Hrrm, ok, firefox is broken. That is, it won't start on my machine, hopefully, this is a temporary set back and will be fixed soon.
However, running the same command with opera works. As it does with anything that can use scim-anthy.
So, I think my first guess is correct, get some fonts with yum install fonts-japanese. Then restart X. If that doesn't fix it, then try running it from command line as demonstrated above. I doubt it's a firefox issue, I think it was a font issue--that particular type of error is common when scim can't find the proper fonts.

A big oops on my part--everything with Fedora 9 should be in Fedora focus, not software. The mods will probably move this and lecture us.
Edit---wow, Seve, you're fast--I didn't even look to see if it was done, I just clicked back on the browser, added my oops and presto--it's already moved. You guys are GOOD!

Doh-mo Arigato, Mister Scrotto
同も有難う、ミスター・スクロット
With due respect to the '70's hit by the Pop/Rock Group Queen. I was in High School, living in Japan when the song became popular - given my name, heard the "term" used so many times in conversations...everybody thought they were comedians...but I digress.
The "install fonts" did the trick.
Seve: I'll give Redhat a courtesy note as well - fonts pkgs should have been included from the "gitgo".
Again thanks to the both of you.

I don't think you want to use kanji for the dou of doumo--I'd have to check with a native speaker, (or Wayne, who's close enough to one) but I don't think I've ever seen it written in kanji. (Also, I'm not positive that kanji would be correct, that's the dou of douryou, co-worker.)
****surei shimasu is a bit more appropriate from both of us to Seve, because we made him work.

Indeed "どうも" ( doumo ) is not written with a Chinese character. The word probably comes from "どう" (=how), which could possibly be "どのよう" for short, to which "も" is added as in other adverbs, e.g. 全くも.
Apologies for getting away from the original topic!

Ah, one might journey (get it, journey?) to see them all--hrrm, there's room for a rolling stone and poison joke there too, but the heck with it.
Sigh, and Hobashira apologized for being off topic.

You're right. How could I have forgotten to include Asia, REO Speedwagon, and Air Supply? I apologize profusely!
