I don't consider it possible to upgrade Gnome on F8 due to deps .
I you want the latest Gnome wait for F9 !!
If you doubt this fact try this ( don't commit to this update )
Code:
su
yum --enablerepo=development groupupdate "GNOME Desktop Environment"

As Leigh said, you will have to wait till Fedora 9. It is not possible to upgrade one version of Gnome to the next as there are too many dependencies involved and many things will break and you'll be left with a non-functioning system.

The OP is not talking about upgrading from one version of Fedora to another (which is also not recommended but YMMV) but upgrading from one version of Gnome to the next in the same Fedora release, which one of the developers has said a couple of times in the past would break
Personally, I've always gone for the clean install method of any distro rather than upgrade. I'd rather spend an hour getting everything set-up than spend two or more fixing things that might break

Thanks for all your suggestion. I will wait for Fedora 9, just 19 days only.
