tottally disappointed

i have already posted two topics about this matter.. i am very interested in fedora 8 and thats why i am leaving my windows xp and tried to install new fedora on to my system. Problems starting here.. first i download live cd i 386 from fedoraproject.org site and burn it into cd and tried to boot from that cd. its everything works until the user name and password screen appers. when i give fedora as username an error msg came and system goes to hangstage the msg as follows
" there was and error loading the theme fedorainfinity"
"failed to load image user/share/gdm/themes/fedorainfinity/langauage.png : image has zero width"

then i am going for unibootin method and throgh net i have again download fedora 8 . It will again formatting the entire system. when it starting to boot it directly goes to
Grub> and stop woring

Then i tried the third method : downloading the iso dvd i 386 through bittoret and it will take one entire day to complete. and when i tried to install through that dvd. it shows like this

loading scsi driver
pick language : i give English --ok
Keayboard : us ---ok
then goes to instalation methd
what type of media contains the packages to be installed?
the options are
local cd/dvd
hard drive
nfs directory
ftp
http:,

i select local cd/dvd
then the error msg came
" No driver found "
"Unable to find any devices of type needed for this installation type"
" Would you like to mannualy select your driver or driver disk?
Select driver or use a driver disk etc....

what happend ??? i dont know how to move forward or stop working with fedora 8:

another issue is that now i cant install xp now .. when the installation start the screen will become blank\

need urgent attention from the moderator or anybody pls.... i am woring with this last 4 days///// waiting for ur immediate reply.... thanks in advance

This sounds like an optical drive or ram problem.

did you run a media check on the livecd? (it's an option at the initial boot screen)

If that checks out ok then you should run memtest86+ to check you ram is in good order, you press tab at the boot screen and type 'memtest86' (I think, it may require some additional key presses. If it's not an option with the livecd it is definitely available with the install dvd)

To reinstall winxp you will need to zero out the first sector on the drive or delete the fedora partitions using the installer (xp install disk can't read the partition table created by anaconda installer for some unknown reason and just locks up (microsoft incompetence)), but for that you'll need a successful boot.
