Fedora 8 dual boot with Windows XP [Pavilion dv6137tx] Time gets reset every time!

Hi

I've been using Fedora 8 and Windows XP for a few days on my pavilion dv6137tx, and I have to set the correct time (interestingly, date is correct) each time I log in to Windows or Linux. Changing the bios time settings hasn't helped either. How do I get this to work?

I was searching for a solution on this forum, but didn't get one, so I started this thread. Sorry if its repetitive (in which case, could someone please point me to the solution).

Strange thing is...I never had such a problem with Fedora 7.

D you mean this happens both on your windows and linux? or is it just on the linux that the time gets set wrongly?

The link you found would solve your problem if the issue was happening only with your linux machine which would probably just mean that you have timezone set incorrectly:

To summarize the thread:

1. If /etc/adjtime is there, remove

2. as root run /etc/system-config-date and set your timezone correctly, also check not using "System Clock uses UTC"

3. as root run ntpdate at.pool.ntp.org [or some other ntp server that you can use]. You should then add this to cron if it solves your problem.

It's not the TZ that's the problem. Win sets your hardware RTC to local time, and by default Linux sets it to UTC (Greenwich time).

Click through the calnder and UNchech "system used UTC" then correct everything.
It's a real mess and Windows is wrong - but has no option to fix it.

It seems that disabling UTC in Linux has done the trick...
