Asus P4S533 Sis900 on-board LAN

I am totally new at Linux and trying out FC1. I have been playing around with it for the past week just to learn it. I have never been able to make my internet connection to xDSL to Sympatico work. The network card itself doesn't seem to be installed. When i look at installation instructions either that came with my Asus motherboard or online at asus's web site, they keep on referring to install to an example of theirs which they use this installation message:

1> Copy sis900.c and sis900.h to /usr/src/2.4.19/drivers/net/

with FC1 i can't seem to find any folders under /src/

I'm guessing this has to do with basic linux knownledge/operation?
