Thumbs down Suspend to RAM problem (and Suspend to Disk too)

Hallo!
only started correctly work mode "suspend-to-RAM" in my notebook...
(with kernel 2.6.24.3-12)
and comes "kernel 2.6.24.3-34". Mode "suspend-to-RAM" don't working again.
What's the problems?
more precisely, not activated LCD-panel after the release of sleep.
if I turn on the console (Ctrl+Alt+1), and then (Ctrl+Alt+7)come back to
console number 7, then LCD-panel is activated.

My system:
Notebook HP Compaq 6720s ()
fedora 8
kernel-2.6.24.3-34.fc8
gnome-power-manager-2.20.0-6.fc8

Thanks.

It sounds like a regression. A lot of us got our networks killed recently. Similar thing.

In my case, I booted from the earlier kernel using the grub menu when the machine powered up, then set the default kernel in the /etc/grub.conf file so I did not use the broken kernel.

In some cases I've has to go to koji and download an older kernel then install it with RPM, and tell yum to stop pulling kernels for awhile. There is a way to tell yum to ignore package updates (in this case the kernel) for awhile.

There was also a question here earlier about how to keep more kernels around, just for cases like yours...the default is two.

Keep more kernels

Yeah... and well, according to info (when you compile kernel manually) linux doesn't really make friends with s3 and hibernation still seems to work better.

In this case the only thing to do (if s3 works bad) is to either switch to hibernation or just power off the system
