kmod-nvidia

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows how I can install an older kernel version on the nvidia driver, I just reinstalled fedora 8 and when I try to install the nvidia drivers with yum I get this error....

Error: Missing Dependency: kernel-x86_64 = 2.6.24.3-34.fc8 is needed by package kmod-nvidia-2.6.24.3-34.fc8

uname -r
2.6.24.3-12.fc8

Thanks,

dave

I'm seeing the same issue. If I select the kmod-nvidia-2.6.24.3-12.fc8.x86_64 package, when dependencies are resolved it attempts to get kmod-nvidia-2.6.24.3-34.fc8.x86_64. Strange behavior.

uname -rm
2.6.24.3-12.fc8 x86_64

yum install kmod-nvidia-2.6.24.3-12.fc8.x86_64

Sorry firewing.

I finally decided to drop the kmod-nvidia from livna for my nvidia driver. I got tired of being shackled to a specific kernel until it was updated. I use the dkms package from freshrpms now.

64bit driver.

http://werewolf.freshrpms.net/rpm.html?id=465

32bit driver
http://werewolf.freshrpms.net/rpm.html?id=462

These are dkms drivers, so if you have kernel-devel and kernel-headers installed for your current kernel they rebuild automatically on system boot, if needed.

Well the -34 kernel just showed up in my updates that were available. After applying, all went smoothly.

This happens once in awhile seems the livna mirror updates its nvidia package before all the kernel updates hit all the Fedora mirrors. Once the mirrors are fully updated install goes same as always very smooth.
