help - installing fedora 8 to VM ware workstation 6.01 in windows xp

hi im new to linux. i want to install fedora 8 in wm ware workstation. i am running windows xp and hav vm ware workstation installed.

problem- i get asked "The partition table on device sda was unreadable. To create new partitions it must be initialized, causing the loss of ALL DATA on this drive. This operation will override any previous installation choices about which drives to ignore. Would you like to initialize the drive, erasing ALL DATA?"

wat do i do? 2 options: YES or NO.
if i click yes, does it really erase all my data in my windows xp partition ?

Answer "YES". You are installing on the VMware virtual disk, not your WinXP partition. Only the virtual disk (which is a file on your WinXP partition) will be affected.

wich option shuld i pick:
-remove all partitions on selected drives and create default layout
- remove linux partitions on selected drives and create default layout
- use free space on selected drives and create default layout
- create custom layout

The easiest option for you is to :

-remove all partitions on selected drives and create default layout

This is fairly safe since you are installing inside a VM on a virtual disk. If you were doing a dual boot then you would stick to the other options.

As you gain more knowledge, you can play around with different partition layouts later on with choosing - create custom layout
