Switch From Livna FGLRX to ATI?

Is it possible to switch out of Livna FGLRX and into ATI's regular driver distrobution? Livna just seems to be rather slow in releasing driver updates and I really want to try 8.3 as each driver seems to be better and better, and currently compiz on dual monitors is just too slow to really use on my laptop.

Any help would be welcome!

You can change your /etc/yum.conf file to add a line like:

exclude=
Quote:
packagename
In this way, that package will not to be updated from the repositories. But you will need to download and install the driver manually from ATI pages because ATI doesn't has a repository for fedora.

But is removing my current FGLRX as easy as yum remove kmod-fglrx, without causing any headaches down the road? I'd rather have a laptop that is out of date than one that doesn't boot to X at all lol.

Some risks involved. Anyway, if you have problem, you can install the fglrx packages again, and first, uninstall whatever you installed in replacement for the original fglrx packages..
