how can I use patch from kernel.org

I had used fedora 5 for two years. and i am not willing upgrade my fedora to F8 or f9...

[shell@localhost ~]$ rpm -q kernel
kernel-2.6.20-1.2320.fc5
[shell@localhost ~]$

HOW can i use the patch from www.kernel.org?

I think patch can't be applied to system kernel.
You have to download entire kernel source tar ball from kernel.org to compile your own kernel
Future patches can be applied to your source without downloading entire source.
Compiling kernel is some what tricky. Better you upgrade your system to FC7 or FC8 you will get latest updates of kernel.
