Thread title edited for typo and capitalization

I had a Creative Muvo that worked very well in Linux, definitely don't buy an iPod if you're looking for Linux support since the newer ones have to be cracked or jailbroken to work properly.

cowon iaudio products work decently for me. If anything it'll get mounted like a storage device and you can copy over. Haven't really bothered trying to find an app that would help automate stuff though.

I would second Cowon's products, especially because a majority of their players support Ogg Vorbis and FLAC . They tend to have really go features and battery life for the money .

I find it funny that Zune is listed. Being that it's made by a company everyone here says is evil.

So's the Ipod! Bet neither one works out of the box.

I've had no headaches with my creative Zen Vision M series. Everything works great using Gnomad, even things like data transfers.

iRiver has always been the best for me. Though I had luck with a little Creative 128Mb number some years back.

Zunes and iPods alike are overpriced yet very good, but...

I have a Sansa here. Works great out of box on Linux with no hacking (unless you count changing one setting in the main options menu as hacking). Works better out of box than it does in Windows in my experience.

I have this one:

Great player. I have a 2GB M-SD card in it for some extra capacity. Might seem like a high price but my dad got a steal on it at a local radio shack and gave me one for a birthday.

Never does any skipping or anything weird like that, but it does often have to recheck the internal DB when powered on for some reason. I recharge it maybe once a week, if that, and listen using it quite a bit.

Hi, I just can't seem to find where to buy one here in the US. Any one know of an online retailer or offline store? It looks good and I want to switch from Zune.

I'm using a sansa e250 and my experience mirrors tjvanwyk. I would also mention that I did modify my firmware. I replaced the stock firmware with rockbox. Though that is not necessary to get it to work. For the features listed, I'll probably go with a cowon next time though.

Linux users using MS products. Everything but Windows.

And they wonder where MS gets it's money to spread FUD against Linux...
