Angry HP Pavilion DV2000 help with Fedora 8

I just switched to Fedora 8 from Ubuntu gutsy gibbon on my HP DV2000 laptop and I am having lots of issues. For the past 3 days I have been trying to properly configure Fedora with great help of google. I have worked most of the problems out, but still a few remain withought a solution. I google for help with no luck. I am new to linux, so I am unable to figure this out on my own.

problem 1: I cannot get my hot keys to work. This includes volume slider, play pause etc, media launcher, and all fn keys. I tried finding a driver in the repositories with no luck. I tried changing the keyboard layout in Control Center, and that did not help either. I am using only KDE environment.

problem 2: Monitor brightness does not work. I tried fn up/down, fn brightness up/down. I looked in KPowersave and it says Brightness Supported: no. I know it should be b/c it worked out of the box in Ubuntu (same with hot keys).

Problem 3: This one is an easy one. How do I stop swtcing windows and navingating in firefox when I accidentally swipe across horizontally towards the bottom of the touchpad?

I like fedora a lot for use with servers. I seems very stable. I hate the fact that it takes me days to properly set it up. If I can resolve te top 3 issues, I will stick with this distro, if not, I will find something a little more user friendly. If you do help me, thanks al lot in advance.

xxx

I'm trying to figure out your first two questions myself.... as to your third, go to about:config in firefox and change the following
mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.action to "0" and
mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.sysnumlines to "true"

Let me know if that works.

For problem #2, you know you have to press [FN] right?

#1) I have extra keys on my laptop keyboard above the F keys. The by default should launch a media player, play pause stop etc., volume control and others. They work out of the box in windows and Ubuntu. With Fedora it does not recognize those keys. It does not perform the default functions and does not let me map functions to those keys. Using the Fn key gets me acces to even more hot keys, which by the way, do not work either.

#2) On the laptop there is a brightness up and down key. It should change the brightness of the screen if you hold the Fn key and press them. On most laptops its Fn+Up and Fn+Down, on mine it is Fn+F7 and Fn+F8. Neither one does anything. I think it is related to problem #1 where the hot keys are not recognized.

Hope this explains it.
Btw P4rD, I am new to linux, not computers. You will have to be a dumb ass to forget to press the Fn key.
