Question Know a good video editor program???

I'm trying out my movie making skills on F8 and I'm not having much luck so far.

I need a program that will capture video from my Canon video camera and save the files in a burnable format. I tried using KINO, and the finished product saved as a KINO SMIL file. Linux read it as a Plain Text Document and wouldn't burn it on DVD as a video file. The original files are in AVI format.

Any suggestions????

avidemux is good, so is kino. It really depends on what you are planning on using it for.

Kino SMIL file is just a text file describing your actions. You must use Export to make a final movie file or a DVD. Check this link: http://www.kinodv.org/docbook/

You could try devede from the livna repos. Choose the option to create an ISO then use K3b to burn the ISO to play on your standalone
