FC2 Media Corruption Problem

I downloaded FC2 and it's being a pain... I downloaded CD1 and when I burned it on my laptop using Nero 5 on Disk-At-Once/96 (and later just Disk-At-Once) it will boot it up, work fine until install and say it cannot find severaly packages (in GUI and linux text). An odd thing I found out though (after burning about 5 copys seeing if it was my CD's) is that when I put in a different CD of same install it would find 1 or maybe even 2 packages... pissed me off so I figured the download went screwy. I just downloaded again, burned it, and got the EXACT thing. I don't know what could be the problem. I don't know if it's my burning program, my recorder, or even my CD's. I would really appreciate ANY help in determining the source of this problem. It's going on 4AM and I haven't figured this out for crap... I'm aggrivated and worried, help! lol

P.S. I'm going to download another program (probably Alcohol 120%) and see if Nero is just being a biatch since I haven't been having much luck with it lately on this comp.

1) i dont know what could be your problem :o but did you do a MD5 Sum check and if you dont know how to do that check this link....i may help you!

2) you may also want to use an alternative source for your download.....i downloaded my cd's from, www.distrowatch.com or use www.linuxiso.org

3) i used the connection at work for my downloads T1 !!

i hope this will help.....but dont get frustated it also happened to me when i first starting using linux...LOTS OF HEADACHES but not many now

lol, I'm not a n00b, I had less headaches when i was though... go figure

I did download the second CD1 from a different source. Also using Alcohol 120% had the same effect... I'm stumped... I'm downloading the DVD and if that don't work then I'm going to try FC1 then upgrading... hopefully that'll work. This is bewildering... NEVER seen this happen.

So... ya kinda didn't help but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate you trying, that's all I ask. Thanks a lot for your time and hopefully someone will hit the nail on the head.

If you want to try a different method of getting the packages, and you have a fast Internet connection on the machine you're installing to, enter

linux askmethod

when the installer first boots. Select http or ftp and enter a close mirror. You will need to enter the site domain and a path to the 'os' directory, for example fedora/core/2/i386/os/.

If your CD burning program doesn't work, buy the CDs from someplace online for about $7 US. You never said you downloaded CDs 2-4 - did you download them? Also, if you're trying to download the ISOs via http or ftp from redhat, that'll take forever. Try bittorrent (or the gui-based front end to bittorrent, azureus) instead. I downloaded all 4 CDs the first day of the release in less than 2 hours with azureus.

I got them all but the last 3 CD's are pointless when the first is the one being a little ***** to me. lol

Alright, I've come to the conclusion that it's the CD Media or my burner that is messed up. Thanks for that online install method, I'm going to give it a try.

Hey, where are the best places online to buy CD's of FC1 and FC2? Are their stores like OfficeDepot that carry them?

I started a list for places to order Fedora here.

Try linuxcd.org. I doubt retailers will sell such a non commercial product. More likely your local Linux user group will be giving it away.

That worked like a charm (took a while but well worth it) I'm going to have to figure out the prob on my laptop but hey, atleast my FC2 works. Thanks a lot man, I appreciate it loads.
