Need to speed up my internet.
So my internet is pretty slow so I was wondering if anyone had a guide on how to speed it up. I remember when I had Ubuntu that there was this process with editing some files and what not and it sped up quite considerably. So If anyone has the same for Fedora, that would be great.
Thanks

I'm sorry also, but you have to realize this question makes no sense. Your ISP is probably the limiting factor as far as internet speed. Are you having Firefox problems? You might try swiftfox or maybe another web browser.

no it's not anything to do with firefox or my ISP, whenever I switch to a different distro of linux this problem is there. I search for a DIY to speed it up with any of the distros and i usually find one and then there, problem solved. but for F8 i can't find any.
i tried to do the same walk through as i have with Ubuntu but obviously it didn't work.

That's actually not too "obvious." Chances are pretty good the guide is referring to files or locations that exist in a Fedora install, but have a slightly different name. I've used many guides from Ubuntu, Gentoo, etc. that, with a few simple changes, work flawlessly.
But if all the old guys (read: experienced) recommend a search I'd be willing to guess there is already something out there for ya. Now to just sift through all those posts and find the magic query ...

ya, i've been doing that right now but do you think that some of the Ubuntu helps would work? most of them just talk about stopping the Ip6 thing and I'm pretty sure i just did that anyway.

Well, here is an idea. Can you link us to the Ubuntu guide so we can see what is involved. I have to admit that you lost me. I have used Linux exclusively for around 4 years now, having at least dabbled with all of the main distros, and while I dont know everything I have never heard of an internet turbo button. I am very unclear what you are referring to. Turning off Ip6 is an arguable advantage as some feel it searches for the Ip6 addresses first, but I have never bothered with this in any distro. I really dont know of any tweaks other than that.

I have it installed but I do not know if it is installed by default. Fedora uses "su" by default instead of "sudo" but you can enable sudo.
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mj...a-f8.html#sudo
Otherwise just use su instead of sudo. "yum install dnsmasq" will take care of the package. The rest looks like it will work in Fedora. You may want to wait for some advice from someone who knows what they are talking about before you jump on this though. Networking is my admitted weakpoint and I cant promise this wont adversely effect your system.
