I've done a few searched (both Google and forum) and come up with zip. My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5630 with an Intel 945.
I have a presentation coming up on Friday (second-year degree student giving a web design lecture to the whole of the first year - scared much?) and would like to use Fedora, though I could easily boot into XP or Vista as the laptop tri-boots.
I can get a half-working configuration with the external on 1024x768 and the internal LCD on 1280x800, but with the GNOME panels framed as 1024x768 on the LCD and the external having an actual screen area of 1280x800, just being chopped at the bottom and right.
What I would ideally want is the LCD to have a constant resolution of 1280x800 and the external to display the same picture, but into 1024x768 and not to have the over-run at the bottom and right, as when I run OO Impress, it runs as if it's on 1280x800 and extends the slideshow beyond the 1024x768 resolution of the monitor.
I'm currently using the Intel driver (not i810) and I know I have to edit xorg.conf but I'm unsure exactly what I have to edit. Any help appreciated and apologies for the rambling explanation
Cheers,
Craig
