Installation form takes forever ...

Hello everybody,

I am facing quite an interesting problem when I try to install FC8 on my new machine. The thing is: The first few seconds seem to be normal - then the process more or less stalls.
I can switch to different screens, however - so it is no real stall.
First I thought the system is waiting for some timeouts but it is slow like a duck even during operations which usually cannot be slow.
All CPUs seem to be idle mostly.

Did anybody encounter similar problems?

I am running a quad-core Intel box with 8 GB of RAM and 2 x 500 GB disks.
It should be quite "common" hardware.

Passing "noapic" to the kernel did not help.

Can anybody help?

Hans
