Sound in FC2

I'm running an up-to-date version of Fedora Core 2. I've had sound ever since I started using it, but today I booted it up and there's no sound. The only thing I've done on this install of FC2 was browse the internet and listen to music I juiced from a CD.

Any help getting sound back would be greatly appreciated.

Try using the Soundcard Detection app and playing the Test Sound. If this doesn't fix it use alsamixer to turn up the volume and verify your sound is unmuted.

Ran soundcard detection, it found my soundcard just fine, but couldn't hear the test sound. Windows is playing sounds just fine, and I haven't muted anything in FC2. Ran alsamixer and all the volume is up and unmuted.

Open your /etc/modprobe.conf and find the line that says:
Code:
alias snd-card-0 something
Add a new line that says:
Code:
alias sound-slot-0 something
(something is your module name, mine is snd-emu10k1)

This fixed my issues.

That didn't work. I'm gonna wipe my harddrive and reinstall FC2, and hope the sound lasts for more than a day this time...
