cannot activate wireless

when I try to activate
Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 2200BG

I get this:

Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06) :
SET failed on device eth1 ; Invalid argument.

Determining IP information for eth1... failed; no link present. Check cable?

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance
