I just installed the k3b CD burner. I was tired of GnomeToaster crashing out
on me or improperly burning audio CDs. I'm very happy with my switch.
k3b looks like it was designed with _everyone_ in mind. The interface is
incredably intuitive, fast and sexy. I would put this program on par or better
than Nero. It is very ocnfigureable, but the defaults are all sane. Great program.

I recently discovered this one too - it absolutly rocks. Has exceeded my expectation several times, even burns isos nicely tool - and it looks nice too.

The epitome of good evelopment for me is software that fuctionality does the job well, consistently and stably, and has a well designed clearly thought out inteface.

So much software is eye candy with no logical use - take media player skins for example. I used to have insane skins that I'd forget where the the damn buttons where - they looked cool for screenshots but at the end of the day it sat on another desktop while I hacked away elsewhere - it just wasn't worth it.

Applies to everyting else too - I hate stuff that looks cool, but doesn't function properly. I'd rather have it fuctional and look crap - I can always "skin" it myself.

I'd like to add my kudos to the crop - it's been the one program I'd consistenly build myself if there wasn't an RPM available.

I too like k3b - compared to the abominable xcdroast GUI, it's clearly the best GUI for CD/DVD burning. However, I run GNOME and would also like to see a decent GNOME (or GTK) based CD/DVD burning program - anyone got any recommendations?

I use K3B to burn, ive just found that I only need to use my burner instead 2 cdrom drives.

What's wrong with using k3b from within GNOME? Is there any particular reason for wanting an GTK CD/DVD burning program, or are you just one of those desktop purists?

I have got this problem.
I can not continue in multisession disk (CD-RW) created in NERO 6. I want just create another track as a part of multisesion and I do not know how can I do that.
Also a ca not see file not included in folders. I have got on /dev/hde6/Linux/ some files not in folders and I can not burn it because they are unvisible for k3b. If I make folder, and copy that files to that folder everything is OK.
Any idea, why it is like this?

While I've used K3B with other distros (SuSE 9.0 Pro) and highly praise it, I can't get it to burn with my FC2. Many different error messages later, I now have the error message that states my writer can't write at the low speed that K3B is set. I've tried all different kinds of settings but the speed setting does not "keep". In desperation, I gave XCDRoast a shot. It worked. But like a previous post states, it's not very intuitive. Very cumbersome to use. But at least I can burn. So I did some Goggling and came up with this site. For those that, for what ever reason can't use K3B, give this site a try. It might help to understand XCDRoast. I've yet to study it but with only XCDRoast to use, I'm forced to check it out. Hope this helps someone in the same position. www.xcdroast.org

I can't say why but K3B has never worked for me. Never be able to burn or record. Could be because my burner is external -USB mounted. So imdeemvp's comment on Xcdroast got my attention. I've installed it and need to configure it. Its asking for me to input the drives (CD and USB CDburner) location. What is the command for finding out the drives location? I'm sure it is asking for something like /dev/such&such. A little assistance please. Thanks.
