I am running Fedora 8 and have a ralink wireless card. The system has been stable and working well for more than a month (since I set it up). Last night, I accepted a yum update, and on reboot, my wireless stopped working. When I attempted to reload it using the gnome network GUI, the system would freeze up.
After some research, I have determined that the networking process begins and immediately eats up available memory (there are 500 mb free before I start and 0 after a few moments). I tried reinstalling networking, deleting all profiles and network scripts and reinstalling network manager, to no avail.
If I manually configure ifconfig, I can get on with a wired connection, but my wireless simply continues to ask me for my login and never connects.
Any help would be appreciated. Please let me know what information I should post.
Thank you,
Ron
