Fedora 9 - Alpha
Well for those people that have vmware or the like and want to give Fedora 9 - Alpha a go the cd/dvd iso's will be released tonight.
The more stable a release the more testing we as the community need to do the devs can only go so far.
If you haven't got a virtual environment go get one. KVM, Xen both are easy to set up. VMWare is really easy and you don't have to pay for it so go get it set up and install Fedora 9 on it

Any particular problem with installing on a spare partition(s) ..... I mean, I assume the Grub version bundled with F9 is stable, so it's not going to stuff up my F8 install?

That was the whole idea of the early iso's.
Test the rawhide that Alpha is being created from to expose the bugs that stop it from installing, booting up and being in a state to do yum updates.
Other tests can be done also for after Alpha fixes - like minimum install. The other gui's, custom partitioning, custom package selection.
And of course, testing the odd ball program config's. Like all the ssl parts for Apache.
A full blown ntfsv4 server with SELinux.
And on and on and on...there is no off switch on the rawhide machine.

I haven't tried it as of yet I'm still waiting for the iso's my understanding is that there are a lot of changes in the distro.
With 5500 packages compared to 4500 in Fedora 8 that 1k increase is getting me excited. I'm more about the bug testing personally since I enjoyed F8 and I'm hoping F9 will be better.
Lots of bugs will come up and KDE 4 is included.

I think it is only temp because the real one broke due to KDE 4 and sessions?
How can one hate a white box?
I hate terminal. I hate OOwriter, I hate gedit. And I really, really hate this 1" text box! lol
I think F8 is the best yet. Look at my new uptime record.
[root@Ruthie-07 ~]# uptime
04:27:43 up 3 days, 5:00, 3 users, load average: 0.10, 0.17, 0.11
