F8 LiveCD Gnome Post Install framed ?s

Hello

I installed the F8 LiveCD Gnome Desktop. I had (have) some wireless networking
problem having only been online twice

First time: I ran the package update sequence (about 300MB of rpms)
2nd Time: I immediately downloaded the full Fedora 8 DVD iso image (then verifed)
and soon mounted it to bring it on line. I want to use the Package
Manager (Software update mechanism (Application -> Add/Remove Software))
You have to point the Repository Manager to the directory containing
some repomd.xml file. I've done the add/edit entry sequence. The Repository does
not seem to instate the DVD as a Package source to govern an update process.

I not too trusting of the correct functionality of this SW update mechanism (as well as
a few others in the Gnome Desktop environment) So I need to verify this mechanism
as to what the expressed procedure would be.

In the Add/Remove Software Application what would be the appropiate entry
if the Fedora 8 DVD Distro if inserted as a Repositority Manger entry
Fedora-8-i386-DVD.iso is mount at the mount point /dvd
I s-linked it into the http source directory and it become available httpwise.

Name: Fedora DVD
Description: LOCAL
Location: http://localhost/f8/repodata/repomd.xml
Also tried the two below:

Location: http://localhost/f8/repodata/
Location: http://localhost/f8/repodata

Error message: Unable to retrieve software information
This could be caused by not having a network connection available.

Details:
Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repmond.xml)
for repository fedora. Please verify path and try again.

Is PM corrupted somehow/way?
Or am I errant in my approach?

TIA
Markham

There was no need to download the DVD ISO if you installed from a LiveCD and then ran Software Update. Chances are, many/most of the packages on the DVD have been superseded by newer versions which are in the online repositories.
