Question Can't update ClamAV on FC4 (not rpm installed)

Hi everyone :-)

When I try to configure ClamAV 0.92 on FC4 I get the following error:

checking for a supported version of gcc... ok (4.0.2)
checking for gcc bug PR27603... ok, bug not present
checking for gcc bug PR28045... configure: error: your compiler has gcc PR28045 bug, use a different compiler, see http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=28045

Now we have tried to update GCC (yum update GCC) but no joy:

[root@mail clamav-0.92]# yum update gcc

Could not find update match for gcc
No Packages marked for Update/Obsoletion

Any ideas why we get the error when trying to configure ClamAv? Also, which repositories can I use to update YUM?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Regards

You can't use yum to get gcc for FC4, no longer supported. You can only use Fedora 7 or Fedora 8 with yum.

Upgrade your Fedora Core box to Fedora 7 or Fedora 8.

When an older Fedora release loses its support, that includes the yum repos for that release.

If you don't like to update your Fedora box every 6 months, then seriously give CentOS a try. They have longer life cycle and its free, RedHat flavor.
