getting java to install fedora 7

hi I have been trying to install java I am new to linux and dont understand all the termologys,I have jer-6u3-linux-i586.bin [not the rpm one] on my desktop and cant figure out what to do to get it installed

thanks but there has to be something simpler I hope as I do not know where to even put any of these commands,can I put anything in termnal and get it to find and install thanks

thanks anyway but that does not help a bit when you are new and clueless on this op system,I have followed instructions on using yum on other installs would this also work for java

You should be able to copy and paste the instructions on the howto. All you have to do is open the terminal.

That is go to Applications -> System Tools and Terminal

yes that is what I tried before I did the other post that you answered and I thank you for trying but it did not work, I have winxp on the other boot but its crashing ever few minutes and I really wish to go to linux only I am going to have to reinstall the xp to get it strightent out and i've did that so many times I have to almost beg microsoft to re activate it thanks again

what I see is there is not anywhere for this appicaction to go to it always says error

Well if you have problems post back we are more than happy to step you through what things we can.
