Good, glad you got your eye candy going.
As for the resolution thing, not yet, though I refuse to give up since I find the resolution it sets way too annoying for everyday use.
So far, only SUSE

has been able to set the res correctly for me with fglrx, but then I had no accelaration, plus I just don't like that distro so that will be a last resort type of thing.
The latest Sabayon also reported the correct res with fglrx but it didn't quite look like it to me. Though it was way easier on the eyes than Fedora, there was room for improvement.
So definitely let me know if you come across something that works.
