In my computer, I have 2 DVD-RAM/DL drives and 2 hard drives. One of each is SATA, and the others are IDE. The two IDE drives are on the same (and only) IDE controller. Until I recently took the IDE DVD drive out to use it in another computer, it worked fine. When I put it back in this computer, it's light didn't flash at boot, it wouldn't open when I pressed the button, and Fedora doesn't detect it.
- I checked to make sure that the jumper setting was correct, and that the power and data cables were plugged in. They were.
- I turned off my computer, and tried turning it back on without the IDE hard drive plugged in to the power supply. The DVD drive's light flashed as the computer booted.
- I tried turning the computer on with both the DVD and hard drives plugged into power. The drive's light flashed on boot.
- I plugged the DVD drive back into the data cable, closed the case, and turned the computer on. The light didn't flash on boot, the drive won't open, and Fedora won't detect it.
Is the drive bad? Is the data cable somehow bad (I don't have a spare to test it)? Can someone help me with this, please?
